What the Skip AI list does
A normal screened call is answered by the assistant so it can ask why the person is calling and send you the result. A Skip AI list match stops that assistant path before the conversation begins.
- The AI does not answer. The caller does not hear the assistant's greeting.
- The AI does not record the call. The screening conversation never starts.
- No transcript or summary is created. There is no AI-handled call to write up.
- The contact remains under your control. You can remove the number from the list whenever you want the usual screening behaviour back.
The useful distinction is screening bypass, not “high priority.” OsmO does not decide that a caller is important and add them automatically. You choose the phone numbers that should never reach the AI.
How to add and remove people
Open Skip AI list in OsmO and choose Add from Contacts. The contact picker shows the people stored on your phone; select the person and number you want to exclude from AI pickup.
Contacts permission is used to let you choose a saved person and display their name. If access has been denied, OsmO asks you to enable it in your phone's settings before opening the picker. Removing someone is just as deliberate: tap the remove control and confirm that the contact should no longer bypass screening.
The match is based on the selected phone number. If the same person regularly calls from a second number, add that number too. A saved name by itself cannot match a call that arrives from a different number.
How it works with screening modes
OsmO lets you choose whether screening is off, focused on unknown callers, or applied more broadly. The Skip AI list matters most when you use the broadest mode: it creates a specific exception for selected people while other calls follow the screening rule.
On Android's on-device screen all callers path, a matching Skip AI list number is explicitly allowed instead of being declined to the assistant. On calls that reach OsmO's assistant path, a Skip AI list match makes the assistant disconnect without speaking, recording, or creating a summary. The safe promise across the product is simple: OsmO's AI does not pick up a matched Skip AI list call.
If you use unknown-caller screening and a person is already in your contacts, your phone's selected screening mode may already let that call follow its normal path. The Skip AI list is still the explicit record of who the AI should not handle.
Who belongs on the list?
Use the list for people where even a helpful assistant would be the wrong first experience. For someone working alone, that often means:
- Family and close contacts whose calls you prefer to handle yourself.
- A child's school or caregiver where the familiar phone number should not enter an AI conversation.
- A doctor, clinic, or pharmacy when you know the number and do not want the call discussed with the assistant.
- A small group of established clients who have an agreed direct-call relationship with you.
- An on-call partner or critical supplier whose known number should stay outside the screening workflow.
Do not use the Skip AI list as a substitute for a general contacts list. The point is a short, intentional exception set, not another address book.

These features solve opposite problems:
- Skip AI list: the AI should not answer this number at all.
- Instructions: the AI may answer, but it should follow a particular rule for this caller or situation.

Limits and practical checks
- Phone-number matching matters. Add every number that person is likely to use. Hidden, withheld, short-code, or unrelated numbers cannot be inferred from a contact name.
- This controls OsmO's AI path. Your carrier, phone, call-forwarding setup, device state, and selected screening mode still determine how the call itself rings or routes.
- Test with a real number you control. After changing screening or forwarding settings, add a test contact and place a call from that exact number. Confirm the AI does not answer before relying on the setup for an important caller.
- Remove stale exceptions. If a client relationship ends or a number changes owners, remove the old entry rather than leaving an unnecessary bypass in place.
