What is AI call screening?

It is software that answers a call you have not picked up, asks the caller who they are and why they are calling, and then acts on rules you wrote — connecting you, taking a message, answering their question or declining. Unlike a blocklist it decides from the conversation rather than from the number, which is why it works on a number nobody has ever reported.

How is screening different from blocking?

Blocking decides before anyone speaks, using reports other people filed. Screening decides after asking. That difference is the whole thing: blocking silences the courier at your gate along with the robocall, while screening finds out which is which and hands you a written record either way.

Does the caller know they are being screened?

It must never verify you

One-time codes, card numbers, security answers. A good assistant refuses these even when the caller sounds official — especially then.

It depends on your carrier

Forwarding-based screening needs carrier support, and that varies by country and plan. Check before you rely on it.

It should not agree to things

Contracts, renewals, medical decisions. Let it ask the questions and report the answers, then read them yourself.
