What is an AI phone assistant?

Software that answers your phone in a real conversation on your behalf. It asks who is calling and why, follows written rules you set, takes a message or resolves the request, and sends you a summary with the transcript. The stronger ones also place outbound calls — bookings, price checks, sitting in hold queues — and report back what was said.

How is that different from a spam blocker?

A blocker decides from the number before anyone speaks, using reports other people filed. An assistant decides from the conversation. That difference is why a blocker cannot help with a number nobody has flagged yet, and why it can only ever make your phone quieter rather than getting anything done.

Does it replace my voicemail?

Do I need a new phone number?

What should I not let it do?
